TPS54360: chip temperature is high

Part Number: TPS54360

My application is input 50V, output about 24 V (load is led), current about 1a. The figure is as follows. Now the functions are normal. The inductor is a 65125 100uh ferrosilicon aluminum inductor with a frequency of 440khz. The problem is that the tps54360ddr chip is hot after working, and the room temperature is 30 ℃ after stabilization ° The temperature of the next test chip reaches 74 ℃. How to reduce the temperature of the chip? The PCB is ready (it's better not to change). Is there any way? Another 74 ° Is the chip normal?

  • Hi Ping,

    1. just test actual Tcase at max ambient temp,

2, if you can't do this, then test the case top temp Tcase of TPS54360 at room temp, the delta temp is Tcase-25C, max ambient temp is Ta_max, then estimated Tcase=1.2*(Tcase-25)+Ta_max.

    3. For TPS54360, the T_case should below 140C.
