BQ76952: BQ76952 easy to damage when connect cell

Part Number: BQ76952

Hi

They customer design with BQ76952, and they use LEMO connector to insert 12 series cells.

It is easy to damage the chip, and the I2C cannot communicate normally.

When using a DC source to simulate the battery voltage, the device works normally,

Please help analyze the possible causes of failure.

Thanks

Star

  • Hi Star,

The BQ76952 is generally very tolerant of random connection from a connector.  The cell inputs other than VC0 have 85V abs max limit.  VC0 has a low abs max limit and is recommended that its filter connect to the battery- and VSS on the PCB.  See section 16.3 Random Cell Connection Support of the data sheet.  Use the information and the customer connection diagram to evaluate any risk.
