BQ40Z60: I Can't set the cell number

Hi,

I am using BQ40Z60 IC in 2S2P Combination in my circuit. I have an Adapter Voltage of 12V for Charging.

The questions is,

Why can't I communicate if it's battery-only? (If I will put the charger it is working.)

I using an STM32 controller. And I access to the charger with SBScommands and/or manufacturerAccess.

How can I set the cell number? (I can't found any access point to the DAconfiguration register in the sluua04d.pdf.)

Peter,

You can access data flash by sending 2 bytes in the range 0x4000-0x5FFF. You can choose the DA Configuration register address (which should be within this range) to write the cell count in it. See section 11.1.63 of the TRM for an example.

Now I see how I can write the DF, but I can't found the access point to 12.2.3 DA configuration register (for the Cell number).

Peter,

If you want to check the address of any register, you can check with the bqStudio tool that you can download from our website. Once you start it up, you can select the firmware version for your device (BQ40z60). When you get to the main window, click on the "Window" menu in the top left, and select "Show Advanced Views" under All Global Settings, and apply those settings. Now, when you go to the "Data Memory" section of the tool, you should be able to see the physical addresses of all of the registers within your device. You should be able to confirm that the DA configuration register has the address 0x495d.
