BQ34Z100-G1: How much higher can Full Charge Capacity be than Design Capacity?

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

We have retrofitted an existing system with batteries a little larger than the original ones.

The new batteries are 7.2 AmpHours, the originals were 6.2.

In only a few days the gauges estimate of FCC has been raised up above the DC (DC is still 6.2 because we have not made new image files yet).

How high will the gauge take FCC?

Is it limited to be within some percentage of DC?

Or will the gauge figure out how big the battery REALLY is, if it gets to see enough charging cycles.

  • Hello Kevin,

I'm not sure I would be able to answer well because this is not recommended operation for the gauges, usually the gauges expect Qmax to decrease over time due to aging, not increase. You will have to make a new golden image file for the new battery pack for the gauge to work properly.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
