We are planning to use a bq27510 to monitor some lithium ion cells and report time to empty and charge remaining etc. Our application will have the bq27510 off when charging and in many cases it will not be fully charged when it is charged. The device will be in a docking device when not in use and when it’s docked, it will be charged and off but there are many cases it will be removed from the dock and used and before it is fully charged. The time it is docked (off and charging) and running are up to the end user of the device and this will vary. The documentation on the bq27510 seems to indicate it tracks the state of charge by integration but this will not work in this case since it is planned to be off when charging. Given the planned use of this device, will the bq27510 be able to accurately report the state of charge?
