BQ25792EVM: USB2ANY fails to communicate with HID driver. EV2300 works.

We are evaluating the bq25792 with the EVM. PC is Windows 10. HID device is visible in device manager. USB2ANY explorer seems to work and sees USB2ANY. Firmware 2.8.2.0.

Communication to the EVM fails. 4 blinks on the LED. Device ACK reported in Battery Studio. BMS also reports "No free adapters are available for use on this system". Since the device is of HID type and virtual com port debugging this error is difficult.

Connected old EV2300 from impedance track days. This does connect to the EVM and registers can be accessed but eventually the interface locks up.

What does it take to get the HID interface to work with Battery Management Studio on this PC?

Installed BM Studio on different PC. Version 1.3.104 that includes bqz file for BQ25792. Prior to install ran USB2Any Explorer and read 0x6b addr 00 and got the expected 1A (9V) from the USB2ANY. LED on solid with Explorer. LED blinking with BMS. Same BMS error of "no free adapters available for use on this system".

Suggestions?

HI Charles,

USB2ANY box uses online GUI at link below. You will need to install the latest firmware for the USB2ANY box from its webpage first. The GUI below does not work with EV2400.

Either should work.

Charles,

USB2ANY does not work with BQSTUDIO only the on line GUI tool. BQSTUDIO only works with EV2400.

Thanks Jeff. This is somewhat confusing as there is reference to BQ Studio (somewhere??) and Studio does have the charger devices listed. Trade you three EV2300's for a 2400!

I verified proper operation with USB2Any. Some lab PCs do not have connectivity for security reasons so an executable is prefered over web GUIs. Can the GUI page be saved complete and run from a webless PC?
