BQ40Z80: BQ40Z80 configuration with battery managment studio problem.

Concern 1. In Latest datasheet mentioned that 7th cell support is removed, but as per Technical Reference Manual I can able to enable 7th cell and monitor it's voltage as well. So I am not sure that BQ40Z80 will support 2 to 7 cell configuration or it work well with 2 to 6 cell configuration..

Concern 2. I am using Battery management studio for IC configuration as per my project but It didn't reflect on my board and I tried to configure pin as GPIO but there is no effect on particular GPIO Pin. How can I configure GPIO access with the help of Data Memory settings in Battery Management Studio? I used EV2400 for connection between board and PC with help of SMBD and SMBC pins.

And also want to know how I can get status of command which are pre-defined by Battery Management Studio application Right Hand Command Window.

    The BQ40z80 had the 7th cell support removed due to some corner cases observed with the 7th cell causing issues.

    The TRM should indicate how to change the GPIO functionality of the different pins if you're using bqStudio it should be easy to test. What's your specific question?

  • I have Referred TRM and configurations are done accordingly...

    For same I am attaching data memory export file which is loaded in my IC but board is not working, command is send through battery management studio & EV2400 with help of SmBus,

    commands are CHG_FET_TOGGLE, DSG_FET_TOGGLE, PDSG_FET_TOGGLE & PCHG_FET_TOGGLE but board is not behave according to command.

    I also attached battery management studio screenshots for reference.

    I also checked TEST cases but its not working, FETs are not operating.

    Also I have isolated IC Pin Connectivity from on board circuitry to check Voltages / state of That Particular Pins of CHG,DSG,FUSE,PSDG during command.

    According to TRM tried to Write GPIO High or Low, but at pin it is showing 0.3V / 0.4V.

    my 6-cell battery specification are below,

    fully charged cell voltage 4200mV, discharged cell voltage 3000mV, capacity of the cell 2400 mAh, battery pack voltage 21000 mV .

    I apologize for the delayed response. Based on your screenshots, FET_EN = 1. The FET TOGGLE commands only work when FET_EN=0.
