LM25116: LM25116EVAL Radiated Emissions

Part Number: LM25116

Hello,

Our design is utilizing the buck converter circuit designed for LM25116; however, I have observed that the results for radiated emissions of our design and the evaluation board is marginal or failing around the 160-180MHz and I would like to see if there are any recommendations to improve this result as our design includes more than one LM25116. Our schematic has followed both the evaluation board and the webench recommendation and so we are seeing very similar results between our design and the evaluation board. I appreciate any help that can be provided.

Thanks!

  • Hi Jeremy,

See app note SNVA803 for more detail on optimal placement of input caps at the FETs. It is critical to minimize this loop area as it acts as an antenna for radiated emissions. Furthermore, please ensure that a shielded inductor is used with the dotted terminal tied to SW (for most inductors, the inside part of the winding is designated by the dotted terminal, so the outer turns connected to VOUT provide shielding).

Please send a schematic, layout and radiated EMI plot if you need further help.

    Regards,

    Tim
