TPS2HB16-Q1: Automotive proportional solenoid valve

Part Number: TPS2HB16-Q1

Hello,

We are using the HSS TPS2HB16-Q1 to control hydraulic proportional solenoid valves with PWM frequency of 200 Hz.

The valve comsumption is around 1.2~4 Amps/12volts (the worst case is the 4 Amps valves).

We are also using this HSS to drive ON/OFF hydraulic solenoid valves (12v olts/ Amps)

Is this HSS recommended to our application? Our major doubt is about the proportional valves (thermal problems and max. PWM frequency).

Below is our schematic sheet of this part of the diagram.

Cheers,

Silva.

  • Hi Silva,

Yes the high side switch is recommended here as it provides protections, current sense and current limit feature that provides extra layers of safety to the system. About the thermal concern, 200Hz is a relatively low frequency, and switch should be able to handle without introducing much switching losses. Also the conduction loss even at 4A with 16mohm switch should be minimal. I think it will work in your application.

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

    Regards,

    Yichi
