BQ25723: Default Values Confirmation

Part Number: BQ25723

Hi,

Is Table 9-2 of the BQ25723 datasheet stating the default values for each cell configuration?
e.g. if we set CELL_BATPRESZ to 3S mode, the default charge voltage is 12.6V, until the registers are changed through I2C?

Under most conditions we can program appropriate charge values for a 3S Lithium-Ion Polymer battery through I2C.
However, in cases where this isn't possible, such as when recovering from a dead battery, my goal here is to confirm that this device can have appropriate hardware set values.

Can this device be used standalone without I2C?

Kind regards,
Dan

  • Hi Dan,

Yes that is correct. When CELL_BATPRESZ is 3S, the default charge voltage is 12.6V until the registers are changed through I2C.

No, the device needs to be used with I2C as the default charge current is 0. However, there is a "AUTO_WAKEUP_EN" feature that could be useful in certain situations.

Thanks and I hope this helps,

    Peng
