BQ76940: Incorrect I2C data

Part Number: BQ76940

Hi Team,

I am able to fetch data from AFE but i am getting all cell voltages as zero, getting correct Gain value and able to set OU and OV limits in the register.

Could anyone help me over this issue. Below is the data

Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Hi Muralikrishna,

The 0 V on all cells or upper cells is a common result of an XREADY error in the status register. XREADY is caused when the part can not read voltages from the upper groups. I don't see the status read in the sequence shown above.  Check for missing power on cells 6 through 15 or in this case since it is all cells reporting 0V, cells 6 through 10. Check there is the proper voltage at VC10X with respect to VC5X.  Check for shorted CAP2 to VC5X.  Also check that TS2 has a pull down to VC5X, trapped voltage on the TS2 pin or pull down to VSS can cause the part to not start properly and give the XREADY status.

If the bottom 5 cells show voltage, and an XREADY status then check power at BAT, check for short at CAP3 to VC10X and TS3 to VC10X pull down resistance (thermistor).

  • Thanks for your support,

I found the issue the problem is due to alert signal. There is small mistake in transistor switching circuit.
