TPS40057: TPS40057

Part Number: TPS40057
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM25145, LM61460

Hello,

I am using TPS40057 for generating 5V for one of the products I am currently designing.

However at the output I get somewhere in between 1V - 2V.

Even after doing some modifications and changing component values, output remains same.

I am attaching image of schematic from my design and pcb fabricated image.

So can I get to know what exactly is going wrong and how do I rectify the circuit.

  • Hi Samrudha,

The SS cap of 2.2nF is really low here, especially given the large 330uF output cap, so it may be hitting current limit at startup. Try a larger SS cap value or increase the current limit setpoint.

By the way, the LM25145 contorller is generally recommended for such applications as it provides higher performance and lower cost. If the load current is under 6A, then a converter with integrated FETs is preferable, e.g. LM61460.

    Regards,

    Tim
