BQ20Z75-V160: Value abnormal

Part Number: BQ20Z75-V160
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCRB

Hi,

My customer need assistance.

The battery is made of Samsung, 24000mAh. The configuration file used by the battery is learned at room temperature.

While learning the configuration files, the battery was 8.4v fully charged, and 5.75v discharged. It would return to about 6.4v after standing quietly.

Using this configuration file, the charging and discharging capacity are constants at room temperature, about 26542mAh. Then I take the battery for high and low temperature (high temperature 55 ℃, 4.8A constant current discharge, 6V cut-off; Low temperature - 30 ℃, 4.8A constant current discharge, 6V cut-off).

After the high and low temperature is finished, the battery back to normal temperature, I charge the battery (discharge is not constant current, by a 4.3 Ω cement resistance). The full capacity of  battery will change to about 29000mah. Repeating the charging and discharging, capacity did not be recover. After Reading the configuration file from the battery, I found that the impedance meter has changed and Qmax has also increased. If I rewrite the configuration file to the battery, the capacity will recover.

Please help. Thanks.

  • Hello Chong,

We don't recommend using this gauge for new designs because it is older, our newer gauges have the GPCRB tool to calibrate for cold temperature. With the extreme temperature tests you are doing it may not be possible to get accurate gauging without the RB tweak.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
