UCD3138: PMBus communication

Part Number: UCD3138

Hello,

I want to use UCD3138 as a master to send and receive data through PMbus to communicate with a host without using the FUSION DIGITAL POWER DEVICE and only communicating with the terminal of the host . Is that possible ? If yes is there a simple code that might help me with this application .

Thanks you

  • Maria, you say you want to use the UCD as a PMBus master, but then you say you want it to communicate with the terminal of the host.

PMBus requires that the host be the master, and the power supply be the slave.  This is how all the power supplies I've ever seen work.

What do you mean by "terminal" when you talk about the host.  What is the hardware configuration of your host?

  • If you really mean serial communication, there are serial interfaces on the UCD parts that are relatively standard.  The open loop board and some of the EVMs have RS232 interfaces on them.  I believe the PFC code has the residual of a serial interface, one for communication with the secondary side through isolation, and one for communication with hyperterminal.  I believe it may even support the Vt100 format, or at least it used do.
