BQ27542-G1: BQ27542-G1 cannot enter ROM mode after programming .srec failed

Part Number: BQ27542-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EV2400, BQSTUDIO

Hello Sir:

Our customer used BQ27542-G1 programming .srec but some chips got failed results.

And I let them to follow B.5 Firmware Updating Flow in page 109 of TRM.

But after this action we still can't enter ROM mode.

Would you please help to provide recommendations for us?

Thanks a lot.

  • Hello Statham,

From the panel on the left it looks like your gauge is not connected to the EV2400, it is grayed out.

Also you should be able to choose with the .srec export to automatically put the gauge to ROM.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello Wyatt:

    1. How to re-link the BQ27542-G1 by BqStudio? we try several times but it can not be.

    2. Previously if we programming failed, we just re-programmed our own .srec again then it will be OK, but this time it could not be re-programmed and even failed to connect by BqStudio.

    3. Can you provide the default .srec of BQ27542-G1?

Please help to provide your recommendations for us.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Hello Wyatt:

Can you provide some recommendations for us?

    Thanks a lot.

  • Hello Statham,

    Sorry for the late response.

If the gauge does not have power or the connections are incorrect the interface will be grayed out like they are for you.

This can also happen if the wrong .srec file is uploaded and the gauge becomes corrupted, or if if the power was lost during an upload.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt:

I re-describe the problems faced by customers.

When the customer program their .srec file, some chips failed for unknown reasons.

These failed ICs cannot be programmed again when they are reprogrammed.

There will be the phenomenon you see so far.

Of course, there is no problem with the correctness of the IC power and that .srec file can be successfully programmed into other ICs.

Is there any way to program these failed ICs again?

Please provide your recommendations for us.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Hello Statham,

Once the gauge is bricked from a failed .srec (power loss, cable disconnected, etc while programming) it is not possible to recover the gauge. It's very important all the connections and power are secure during programming.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
