BQ25606: Recommendations on output inductor on SW pin

Part Number: BQ25606

Hello TI experts,

Please let me know what are the recommendations for selecting the output inductor that should be connected to SW pin of BQ25606. We are specifically looking for the maximum current rating that is needed for this particular inductor. We are using nearly 3A charging current for our design. If possible, kindly suggest a suitable inductor part that we can use in our design.

    Hello Wyatt,

    In our design, an approximate value of Iout is 1A. So, based on the equation 4 in the link given in your response, I calculated delta I as 0.2A. So, based on the calculation, I find that the current rating for the inductor should be round 1.5A. Please let me know if my calculation is correct or not.

    Currently, we are facing an issue. In this test, we have connected the battery to the charger and the load is also connected to the charger (on SYS pin). The load here represents a black box that is used to drive speakers. We find that when we play songs at the highest possible volume, the complete electronics required to drive the speaker turns OFF. At the same time, we found that the SYS voltage is dropping. We believe that the issue is caused when the load draws more current from the battery.

    Please let me know what could be the mistake that cause this issue in our design. Also, please suggest some corrective actions.

    Can you share your schematic and layout?

    What is the current draw of our system? Can you supply some scope captures when you try testing with max load of VSYS and VBAT?
