UCC20520: UCC20520 isolated driver for 15 phase inverter

Part Number: UCC20520

Hi,

I am using UCC20520 isolated driver for 15 phase inverter.

So I am wondering if I can design each driver (15 driver pcb) with its own supply and its input filter or use a power managment board able to provide  filtered 12V and 5V for the 15 drivers

Thanks in advance,

  • Hi Hassan,

Thank you very much for reaching out. If your grounds are the same and if the supply meets the sourcing requirements for your drivers, then the supply can be use for multiple drivers. Note that the high side of the drivers cannot use the same power supply since the reference is not the same for all the drivers.

  • Thanks Francisco for your reply.

In fact I am using an isolated DC/DC converter for each UCC20520 driver to supply the VDD.

For the VCC supply the ground is the same, I will need a buck converter to step down a 12V battery voltage to 3.3V or 5V DC @ 3A (aprox). I will need an EMI filter for the input.

Is there a specific PMIC for this purpose?

    Best Regards,

    Hassan

  • Hi Hassan,

If a step down of the voltage is needed I would recommend an LDO or other kind of voltage regulator with a low ripple and low noise.

In this case I would not be able to recommend a specific device to be use since I am not aware of the specific market you are targeting.

However, I recommended visiting our power management section https://www.ti.com/power-management/overview.html

Our filters are very easy to navigate having all the requirements for your system.  In addition, feel free to reach to the LDO group and ask any specific questions about any devices you are interested.
