BQ25883: BQ25883 JEITA Guideline Compliance in Charge Mode

Part Number: BQ25883

Hi TI Team,

Could we modify T1-T2 and T3-T5 temperature definition besides flexible charging voltage/ current settings (beyond the JEITA requirement)?

Thank you very much,

Mickey

  • Hi Mickey,

Some of our other chargers (such as the BQ2561x family) can adjust the JEITA_VT2 and JEITA_VT3 thresholds, but the BQ25883 cannot do this. With the BQ25883, you can shrink or expand the entire T1-T5 temperature window proportionally (for example, setting the charging window between 0-45 °C instead of 0-60 °C), but you cannot adjust the T2 and T3 thresholds independently.

    Best regards,

    Angelo

  • Hi Angelo,

Regarding the adjustment of (T1~T5) window, we definitely adjust RT1 & RT2 resistance respectively, e.g. using 9.31KΩ  & 390KΩ  to

proportionally shrink the window as 0-45 °C, in that case, does the TS pin of BQ25883 has max. limit of combination resistance (RT1 + RT2)?

    Sincerely,

  • Hello Mickey,

Between 45-60degC should be fine, what temperature are you looking to set it at? There is  maximum value, if you try to calculate the RTx values and get negative or over 1Mohm resistances then you have passed the maximum.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello Keller,

       We'd like to charging our battery pack (with NTC thermistor 10K+/-1% at 25 °C) in 0-45 °C range and use 9.31KΩ (1%)  & 390KΩ (1%) as RT1 & RT2 respectively,

Hope they still are good for the TS pin of BQ25883.

    Sincerely,

  • Hello Mickey,

    That should be fine.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
