BQ24650EVM-639: I need a 24V in my Vsys when Vin has no supply but Battery is 12V only.

Part Number: BQ24650EVM-639

Using the module, I plan to have a Vin of 24V for a system that requires 24 V (hence, my Vsys). However, my battery is only 12V and is connected to Vout for charging. So I assume that if I disconnect my Vin from a power supply, my battery will be the one supplying the voltage in the Vsys. Is there a way to increase the regulated voltage in Vsys, from ~12V to ~24V without the need of having to add another battery?

  • Hello,

The battery voltage is the voltage that is regulated. So if you want to charge a 12 V battery and then you disconnect from the input, whatever voltage on the battery that is present is the one available to the system. If you cannot change your battery voltage but still need a higher system voltage, you will need another power converter after the battery to power the system node.

    Thanks,
