LM5143-Q1: use LM5143 in IBB circuit, how to calculate error amplifier and compensation? And how to control RHP with crossover frequency?

Part Number: LM5143-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5143,

design parameter is:

VIN :12-24   Vout :-6V.  Iout 20A.

use LM5143 with single output-2phase,  is it right to caculate Frhp  with   a half  Iout ?

with    .

L set 8uh, Iout=10A.  so Frhp=15.9Khz,   Generally, the RHP frequency must be about 4 times the loop gain crossover frequency.

,so  the  crossover frequency  is only can set 3.98K.  is  to small.

and  how to caculate crossover frequency  in IBB mode.  the LM5143-Q1 Quickstart Tool - revA9  how to use caculate in IBB mode.

and caculate  the Cin ,Cout  is  any difference in IBB MODE,in the datasheet didn't mentioned.

  • Hi Ke,

The LM5143-Q1 quickstart calculator is intended for a buck regulator design. For an IBB, the RHPZ is wRHP = (1 - D)^2*Rload/L.

Generally, a larger output cap is required given the larger ripple current, especially for this 20A application. The DC inductor current will be Iin + Iout, which could be over 30A at Vin = 12V.

See app note snva856 for more detail.

    Regards,

    Tim
