I'm using the PT5042A and PT78NR215H to power my op amps my power supply is 40VDC, which I plan to step down with a voltage divider, but what is the allowable input current so I don't short the circuit?

The PT5042A and PT78NR215H have an average input inrush current each of up to 5.5A .
One possible alternative is the PTN78060A series with a lower inrush current from a maximum input voltage of 15V. The 40V power source is has to be regulated down to +15V with an isolated converter. such as PT4584 or eqivalent converter.The PTN78060A input voltage source can be the PT4584 output voltage (15V)
