LM3150: Input ripple noise transfer to output ripple

Part Number: LM3150

Hello,

I hope you can give me some advice to the following Problem.

When I draw more Power from my power source it will produce a 100Hz Voltage ripple.

This increase in input ripple will be transferred to the output of the LM3150.

1A: Uout p-p = 0,070V (LC Ripple of LM3150 itself)
4A: Uin p-p=3,1V Uout = 0,100V
6A: Uin p-p=4,5V Uout = 0,135V

Is there a way to reduce the transfer of this ripple more?
Or is my only option to reduce the input ripple itself?

  • Hi Mario,

I suspect increasing the converter switching frequency will help increase the input ripple rejection.

However there will be some unavoidable AC-coupling due to capacitances of MOSFETs.

It would be best to reduce the ripple of the input.

    Hope this helps,

    -Orlando
