Hello, Mr. / MS

       I expect to use the TPL7407L to design the digital output circuit of PLC. What I ask is how to design the peripheral circuit of this chip, so that it has the ability of short circuit protection.Is there a reference design? If not, can you simply introduce me a low-cost implementation scheme? I look forward to your help.

    Hello, 

    We do not have a reference design for short circuit protection with low side switches.

    Since the TPL7407L does not provide any internal short circuit protection, please reference to chapter 3 of our 11 ways to protect your power path E-book. This explains how to provide this feature using our large portfolio of devices. Table 1 of the same E-book will also assist in categorizing the different features within our product range. 

    If you like the fast PWM feature of the low-side switch, one option is adding a high side switch in an always on state before the load to provide protection features and keeping your low side switch after the load to provide your fast PWM. (configuration shown below)
