TPS730: G4 - Non G4

Part Number: TPS730

Hi Experts,

a customer approached me since they have some concerns with changing their BOM from a TPS73018DBVTG4 to TPS73018DBVT. In the past there used to be differences between those part numbers, but according to the product homepage those parts are identical when ordered today.

Is there a documentation available that describes the changes made to remove those differences?

    Hello Simon,

    Great question! If we rewind to the 2006 - 2007 timeframe TI was transitioning to green material. For example Lead free, Pb free, and Tin free devices. The "G4" was the PN associated with these green devices. During the transition not all customers transitioned to the green parts right away and had a transition plan. 

    Now all devices are free of these materials, and thus there is no need for the two different part numbers!
