Solar MPPT Li-Poly 4.2V Battery Charger

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24650, BQ25798

Hi

I am interested in a MPPT Solar Charger for a 4.2V battery. Can you please advice which device would be able to charge using MPPT.

We are currently using the LTC4162, which has a MPPT. The MPPT is dynamically scanned and set, instead of setting a static value.

Does TI also provide a Dynamic MPPT charger?

Thank You

  • Hello Dharmesh,

Currently we have the BQ25798 and BQ24650 MPPT chargers. The BQ25798 uses a fraction of the VOC to adjust for the MPP, but does not do a full sweep of the charging current. The VOC is measured in a set interval, and the fraction of VOC used can be adjusted so it the input voltage limit matches the panel's MPP.

The BQ24650 uses a set fraction of the PV voltage with external components.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • HI Wyatt

    Thank You, for your reply

We do require full sweep as will be using multiple different solar panels.
