LM5118: 14V/10A schematics review

Hi Henry,

i assume this design was based on:

AN-2178 LM5118 Four Switch Conversion (Rev. E) (ti.com)

But there are some issues within the schematic:

- it looks like the external components on ENa nd SS have been swapped.

- R101 not sure for what reason this has been added but i would suggest to remove it.

- U69 and U70: please check if the right device has been selected - i think this needs to be the ...425 variant

- Transformer pin 3 and 4 needs to be connected together

- R97 left side needs to be connected to C120 adn R97 right side needs to be connected to L1 pin 3

- please also check of Capacitor on the input is good enough for the application requirements

- R608 and R609 are selected to set the gain of the Current sense Ampifier A to 0.24 - not sure if this was intended as this looks very low

- Vcc is sourced by the LM5118 pin 16 but there is no label Vcc attached to that signal line

Hi Henry,

Beside the item already mentioned last time - It looks OK:

- U69 and U70: please check if the right device has been selected - i think this needs to be the ...425 variant (which is one inverting one non-inverting channel)

- R101 is currently set to 0 Ohm which does not look OK but maybe this is just place holder - see also reference design where a 500kOhm has been used here.

Hi Henry,

when using the power stage designer - i see a I RMS of 35 A for the Inductor. The datasheet allows only 15 A.
The saturation current would be OK.
