Part Number: UCC28070A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28070
I have seen a couple threads reference a simplis model of this part. I am looking for this model for a new design. Can I get this model?

HI Joshua,
I looked throughout our database and we don't actually have Simplis models, the ones developed were for Simetrix which is Simplis' Spice engine. I can not confirm if the models I have are fully tested so they may not be as effective as using the Pspice model we havve.
Can you use the Pspice model?
Hey John,
Thanks for looking at this. Any chance a simplis model could be made for this controller. I'm aware this is a huge stretch, but I'm asking anyways. Seems like TI views simplis as the future. The newer controllers all have simplis models. I'm planning on using one of TI's LLC controllers and purchasing simplis because it only has a simplis model. However, simplis comes at a steep price (at least for a small company), but if I could simulate everything in it, it would provide a lot more value, and make it easier to sell to the higher-ups.
As far as I can tell, UCC28070A is an old controller, but still TI's top interleaved PFC controller for continuous conduction mode control. No updated parts have been released. I want to argue that this controller should be available in SIMPLIS since it is still the latest and greatest.
I understand TI has a PSPICE simulator, and I can maybe use it, but it would certainly take more time, which is a resource I don't have a lot of. Plus, the benefits of simplis would not be able to be utilized, one of the reasons I assume TI see's simplis as the future.
Thanks for reading. :)
Hi Joshua,
We are working to incorporate a PWL model simulator into Pspice for TI which ideally would run as fast as a Simplis model. This is a work in progress and unfortunately, we do have anyone working on a Simplis model for the UCC28070 at this time.
Yes for interleaved CCM PFC the UCC28070 is our best device and for now and unfortunately, we only have the Pspice model. I wish I had a better answer for you.
John,
Thanks one last time for looking into this. That's interesting to hear TI is actively trying to implement a PWL scheme into their PSPICE. Unfortunately, as you alluded, this isn't really helpful to me now...but maybe down the road.
I'll leave with a suggestion; I think since Simplis is currently the hot ticket for quick, accurate simulations, the top of the line TI products should have a model in order to utilize it. I suggest that TI prioritize getting these top of the line IC's into simplis quickly, including UCC28070A.
I also fully understand that this is very unlikely, but I said it anyways.
Thanks John!
