BQ51010B: How to turn off FOD

Hi,

Im trying to run some tests with aluminum foil for future prospects of making our device out of aluminum. i want to turn off the FOD functionality as it is keeping me from measureing efficiency with different configurations of aluminum cutouts.

    Hi Jenson,

    The BQ51010B meets WPC v1.1 specifications and so FOD is enforced. The FOD fault is mainly controlled by the transmitter (TX) and that would be the best place to turn it off. From the receiver (RX) side only (BQ51010B) try increasing the R-FOD. This value will report receive power back to the TX for FOD calculation. Typically 200-Ohm but 250-Ohm is ok if needed. Higher values are possible but would need to look at the circuit. 

    Caution - Turning off FOD protection should only be done in a lab setting with a qualified personnel.
