BQ34Z100-G1: BQ34Z100-G1

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hi,

I am using a BQ34z100-g1 with an LiFePO4.

I have two Golden Image for two packs with different capacity, one for an 8S1P-3200mAh pack and another for an 8S2P-6400mAh pack, both using the same Chemical Cell.

I have many boards programmed with a 8S1P 3200mAh Golden Image, bot now I need to use those boards with 8S2P 6400mAh battery, my doubt is:  If in those boards I change in the parameters values  of  Qmax, Capacity Design and Ra table to values  of my  6,4Ah Golden Image, could I use the 6.4Ah batteries correctly in those cards?  or is it necessary to program the boards with the full 6.4Ah Golden Image from battery Studio.

In my production, it is very easy for me to change BQ parameters through I2C  from my Microcontroler  but it is more difficult for me to program the Full golden image from Battery Studio.

Thanks in advanced.

Best regards

  • Hi

I think It should be workable, for the batteries with same chemical ID, these are the parameters that could vary from pack to pack. My suggestion is to make a line to line comparison with two gg files so as to find all other possible discrepancies between the two template files.

Please be noted that the IT Enable command should be sent after these modification are done

  • Hi Steven

    Thanks for you answer.

I have compared the GG file of parameters of the 3.2Ah golden image and the 6,4Ah golden image. The parameters with different values are:

I think that if I change these parameters from vaule of 3,2Ah G.I. to the value of 6,4Ah G.I  the operation of BQ will be correct for a bat teryof 6,4Ah (Both with the same Chemistry). What do you think? In you last post you say that “it should be workable”. I need to know for sure if this change is correct at 100%.  Could you ensure this question?

    Thanks in advanced.

    Best regards

  • Hi, Javier

        In theory, it is workable.

But please verify below items and in advance:

1: The gg file for 6400mAh battery has been tested good.

2: The QEN bit should be clear before programming the new data to the target device.

3: When programming the data, the device should be in relax mode.

4: Enable IT and do a learning cycle after the new parameters are programmed
