BQ24074: Does this charging statues is normal

Part Number: BQ24074

Dear Expert

When BQ24074 is in use, we set 5/V0.8A charging. When the external input current is not enough for 0.8A charging, the 5V voltage will be pulled down. Is this A normal phenomenon?

For example, if the battery is charged with 5V/0.2A, the input voltage and current of BQ24074 display is 4.4V/0.2A, and the LED display is charging normally.

  • Hi Gabriel,

This can happen when the current pull is too much for the input source (cause the source to act in controlled voltage mode). This is not due to the BQ24074 but the input source not being able to provide the full current. If the device is configured for either of the USB modes, VINDPM is enabled and can help protect the input source by reducing the charge current if the input voltage drops below the VINDPM threshold.

    Best Regards,
