BQ24104: RSET1 selection .Resistance setting beyond the data sheet

Part Number: BQ24104

According to the data sheet, the programmed resistance(RSET1) value of the quick charge current is 10% accurate from 5K to 10K. What kind of problem occurs when using 12K and 15K?

  • Hello,

The datasheet says, "In order to set the current, first choose R(SNS) based on the regulation threshold VIREG across this resistor. The best accuracy is achieved when the VIREG is between 100mV and 200mV." The specification in the electrical characteristics table says the the voltage regulated across the sense resistor is +/-10% accurate when the voltage across the sense resistor is between 100 mV and 200 mV. When you combine equations (3) and (4) you get the equation in the EC table which is VIREG = 1000/RISET1. Limiting VIREG to between 100 mV and 200 mV yields the RISET1 between 5 kOhm and 10 kOhm. We do not guarantee performance when the VIREG voltage is outside of the above range.

    Thanks,

    Mike Emanuel
