LP8860-Q1: Hybrid PWM dimming and PWM direct dimming

Hi team,

customer use Hybrid PWM dimming before, now they would use PWM direct dimming.

I want to know, for NTC setting, is there any difference for NTC circuit design when use PWM direct mode and Hydrid PWM ?

Hi, Betty,

In the direct control mode, LED current limitation with external NTC feature is not available. See 8.3.9.3 LED Current Limitation With External NTC Sensor for details. Thanks.

Hi xiaoguang,

if customer use PWM direct control mode, how to protect overheat? when the temperature is higher than threshold, what's the LED output status?

Betty,

When using PWM direct control mode, LP8860 senses internal die temperature and TSD. See datasheet section: 8.3.9.2 LED Current Dimming With Internal Temperature Sensor.
