TPS3430-Q1: Which pins of RM48L952 to connect with WDI and WDO pins of WDT

Part Number: TPS3430-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RM48L952, TPS3430

Hi,

I am RM48L952DPGET  in my design. I need to connect the WDO and WDI pins to Watchdog timer IC.
I am not sure which pins of RM48 are to be connected.

Thanks & Regards,

Reshma

  • Hi Reshma,

I am not familiar with the RM48L952 RISC Flash Microcontroller but have you seen sections 6.4 (page 60), 6.7 (page 73) and 6.18 (page 104) in the RM48L952's datasheet?  You can use the (nRST) signal, /NMI and/or a GPIO from the microprocessor to output a clock signal that is fed to the TPS3430.

Here is an article that may be able to help answer your question:

  • Reshma,

The app note Ben suggested shows you how you can use an MSP micro to do a function like the TPS3430. I am also not sure if the pages he referred address the question you were asking. The RM48 has a built in digital windowed watch dog timer. Are you asking about the TPS3430 as an external redundant WDT? I think the RM48 GPIO can be used for both driving out the WDI towards the TPS3430 and getting back the WDO as an interrupt. What is your usgae of the GPIO of the RM48 - are they all taken by some other function in your system design? Let me know if you need specifics on using the GPIO for the interrupt. I will need to contact our sister division that does the RM48 but we can find the needed information to support you.

  • Thank you Ajay for your feedback and advice.

  • Hi Reshma,

Just following up with you regarding this thread.  Are there any specifics on using the GPIO for the interrupt you are interested?  Please let me know and I can try to get you the information.
