UCC256402: PMP40766 - Using UCC256402 instead of UCC256403

Hello,

We want to use UCC256402 in the design of PMP40766. But since the starting voltage of UCC256402 is 26V. We were wondering if we could still ignore HV pin of it and turn it ON using Flyback converter? Please suggest a method to turn ON and maintain VCC supply for UCC256402 and UCC28180 in the same design.

Shyama,

UCC256402 integrates HV start and HV start cannot be disabled. So you couldn't ignore HV pin. If you don't need HV start, UCC256403 is better than UCC256402, why don't you use UCC256403?

I appreciate your reply, it'll help us make a better decision. The problem is UCC256403 is not available anywhere. Can you suggest by when might it be available. It'll great if you could help us with some samples too.

yes, supply shortage of semi-conductor is significant for long time. Could you try UCC256403A which has no HV start? the difference between UCC256403 and UCC256403A is just the burst mode pattern. There is 40 switching cycle in one burst pattern of UCC256403, it is 16 cycle of UCC256403A.

Dear Yunsheng,

Even that is out of stock. Do you recommend using UCC256303 and later shift to UCC256403?

No, UCC256303 is not recommend to use in new design.
