BQ24650:bq24650 sense resistor burning

Hi,

We have problems with burning sense resistor, MOSFET and bq24650 in our charger design. The problem is sporadic. But as we read in other discussions it occurs when we connect battery output to the system.

We followed every step in the application note.

MOSFET is Si7288. The other components are same with the application note.

Scenario:

Connect battery and the solar input using the switch,

Si7288 directly shortens Battery (+) to GND using Low side driver. As a result Si7288's GND, Drain and LODRV pins burns and shortens, sense resistor burns and IC BQ24650 goes down.

BTST pin is also shortens ground on the IC.

1. There is difference between EVAL Board and Datasheet schematics, on the datasheet there is no series resistor on the BTST pin. What does it affects?

2. Where should we look for this problem? I see many people around the forum experiencing this problem.

3. The problem is sporadic. Not all devices that we manufactured are making same error. Why?
