LM5050-1-Q1: whether we can drive large current mosfet

Dear team,

Can our device to drive below mosfet? If our device can support, do we have such mosfet simulation model? My customer want to make simulation using our TINA, but we can't find such mosfet simulation model.

Hi Sherry,

Yes, LM5050-1 -Q1 should be able to drive SQJQ184E.

We have provided PSpice and TINA model for LM5050-1 on the product folder page.

Customer can obtain the PSpice model of SQJQ184E from its manufacturer and convert it into TINA model by following the steps detailed in the training video below,

Hi Praveen,

In the customer's application, LM5050 will drive two parallel SQJQ184E. The simulation waveform and TINA simulate file is as below. We find that the drive time is too long, 11.76ms. In this period, mosfet is off and body diode is on, so the body diode will withstand larger current for 11.76ms. Is it ok for this solution?

Hi Sherry,

This is expected behavior. The rise time of the gate is dependent on the Gate turn on current of LM5050-1 and the gate capacitance of the Mosfets. The body diodes of the FETs should be able to handle the load current for a short duration on 12ms without any issue. You can cross verify this with the FET manufacturer if needed.
