TPS62153A-Q1: Difference with commercial version

Hi Team,

Can the TPS62153A-Q1 be a drop-in replacement for TPS62153? Aside from the automotive qualification, the datasheet doesn't show much difference between them. Can you help us with the other difference(s), if there's any?

    Hello Jejomar,

    The main difference between these two devices has to do with the Power Good pin logic levels. See the table from the datasheet below:

    The table is for TPS62150(A), however the same rules follow for TPS62153(A). 

    Basically, with the A version you will have the PG pin pulled to GND (LOW) whenever the part has reached an operating condition shown in the table. Otherwise the PG pin will follow the voltage of the pullup resistor when in High Impedance mode.

    Hi Jejomar,

    Aside from the automotive qualification, TPS62153A-Q1 differs from TPS62153 only in how the PG (Power good) pin is controlled when the device is disabled,  in UVLO or in thermal shutdown. The TPS62153A-Q1 holds the PG pin low during these conditions, while the TPS62153 sets the PG pin high impedance (floating).  So as long as both schematics have PG pulled up to VOUT, it should be fine as drop in replacement.
