TPS548D22: How to test the output UVP of TPS548D22

Part Number: TPS548D22

Hi team,

My customer is INspur Group, a vendor of server cloud computing.

And they use our many PoL like TPS548D22 in their board, and recently, they want to test the function of output UVP and OVP.

I get know we can Inject signal at FB pin to simulate the OVP output and then test the waveform of SW, PG and output, etc..

But I don't know how to test the output UVP, If the same method of signal injection is used, I think it may cause a lot of output overvoltage, which may damage the downstream load.

So please help me to check, how can we test the output UVP function.

Best regards,

Andy Liu

  • Hi Andy,

What equipment and/or limitations does your customer have in testing the TPS548D22?

One way to test the UVP would be the following:

    1.Power up the part

    2. Set an electronic load on the VOUT node in the constant voltage mode such that the voltage at which the load regulates to is near the undervoltage condition for feedback specified in the datasheet

    3. On an oscilloscope, measure output current, PGOOD, and VOUT at a minimum.

    4. Adjust the voltage setting of the electronic load in the constant voltage mode until PGOOD de-asserts. Measure the output voltage at the point at which PGOOD de-asserts. This will be your undervoltage condition. Using the math function on the oscilloscope, the feedback voltage may also be calculated.
