BQ24075: EN1/EN2 Settings.

Guru 11255 points

Hi team,

A phenomenon occurred in which the output voltage dropped when the EN was set.
It seems that the input current is cut off when the EN is set.
Is this the correct behavior?

Sincerely.
Kengo.

  • Hi Kengo,

What are you currently setting EN1 and EN2 to?

EN1/EN2 are input pins which set the maximum allowable input current. Depending on how these two pins are configured the device may enter standby mode where charging would stop (EN1 = EN2 = HI), or go into input dynamic power management mode (IN-DPM) if the input current is higher than the max set by EN1/EN2.

    Regards,

    Garrett

  • Hi Garrett,

    Thank you for your comment.

    EN setting :
    1 : H/L (USB 500) → L/H (1.5A)
    2 : L/H (1.5A) H/L (USB 500)

When the input current is higher than the max set by EN1/EN2, the Input current was cut off.
    Is that correct behavior?

    Sincerely.
    Kengo.

  • Hi Kengo,

When you say the input current is cut off do you mean it is being capped/held at a certain value? The correct behavior is that the device will cap out the input current at the max value set by EN1 and EN2 if the input current is larger than the set limit. For example if the applied input current is 600 mA the full current will be observed with the 1.5A setting, but only 500 mA will be observed with the USB 500 setting.

Also, if the output current consumption is too high for the provided input current the output will drop. This could potentially happen when switching from the 1.5 A limit to the 500 mA limit.

    Regards,

    Garrett
