BQ76952: BQ76952-01 or BQ76952:-3 can be used with I2C with external microcontroller?

Part Number: BQ76952

Hello.
I'm going to design a BMS based on the BQ76952.
However, there is a problem with the availability of the version that communicates over I2C.
The system would communicate with Arduino on the i2c bus.
However, at the moment the available ICs are BQ76952-01 or BQ76952-03 with SPI active. Can these versions be switched to I2C? Do they already have OTP programmed?

  • Hi Sebastian,

It is possible, but it is a little difficult. I strongly advise you to use the BQ76952 or BQ7695202 (I2C + CRC). If you have to use the SPI version, you will need to go through a series of steps to program the OTP using SPI to reconfigure the devices to I2C mode.

    Regards,
