UCC21750: TI Pspice simulation issue

Part Number: UCC21750
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC21530

Dear sir,

Good evening.

We are simulating UCC21750 and UCC21530 in gate driver circuit.

Here we are trying to model the third party MOSFET characteristics in TI Mosfet modeling.

We need to model two different types of MOSFET but after modeling we are getting below error.

"ERROR(ORPSIM-16583): Detected an imported model containing transistors or diodes. For such models, PSpice for TI supports a minimum of one and maximum of three traces. Reduce the number of traces and simulate again."

We are not importing third party mosfet models but trying to simulate characteristics of only third party models(only two number).

Kindly suggest solution.

Thank you,

Girish Kantharaju

  • Girish,

We are not importing third party mosfet models but trying to simulate characteristics of only third party models(only two number).

I am a little confused with what you mean here. How are you running the mosfet models without importing them?

Also are you meaning that you have set up the simulation for only 2 traces, but still getting the error? If this is the case, please remove all probes from your circuit and run simulation. Then you can try adding the waveforms of interest deliberately from the Waveform viewer rather than using probes in the schem window.

The short story is that PSPICE for TI is a very pared down version of OrCad/PSPICE Capture CIS which is offered for free. This is one of the limitations of the free version. If you import a 3rd party model to TI PSPICE, it limits how many traces you can see in the waveform viewer.

If you have access to the full-fat version of Capture, I would suggest to use that in every case instead of PSPICE for TI!

  • Dear Dimitri,

    Good afternoon.

    Thank you for your reply.

Please find my answer for your doubts and questions.

I mean there is option TI pspice for modeling Mosfet,Diode,Capacitor and inductor. We can add our own required characteristics.

In that we modelled Mosfet by changing its some of default parameters like Drain to source resistance, gate resistance, gate voltage etc..

So like above we modelled two mosfet and after that we made bias point analysis.

In bias point analysis only we got error but if we model only one mosfet then there is no error.

So as you said and i understand its limitation of free version.

    Thank you,

  • Girish,

It would help a lot if you could share your full test bench.
