TPS546D24A: No output when the load current is greater than 10A

Part Number: TPS546D24A

Hi Sir,

We encountered a problem when using TPS546D24A, that is, when the load current is greater than 10A, there is no output. By carefully checking our design, we believe that the protection is triggered when the load current is 10A, which cause no output. Can u help us to check the cause of this problem?

The below is the schematic and PCB layout diagram, hope it can do some help for the problem analysis.

Thanks,

  • Hi,

Peter is looking into this and will feedback to you soon.

    Thanks,

The Pin Strap selection for MSEL2 appears to be correct on the schematic, and the PMBus interface appears to be connected.  Have you read out the IOUT_OC_FAULT_LIMIT value to confirm that it is correctly set to 52A?

What about the READ_IOUT telemetry values?

The layout appears to show a number of Ground to Ground strap connections, is this a single layer board with above board jumpers to provide ground to ground connections?

Are you finding the design triggers a shutdown due to a DC 10A load current, slowly raised while the converter is running, or a sudden application of a 10A load current?

What tool was used to select the programming resistors and compensation?  If you already have a tool filled out that selects the compensation, can you share it with me to review?
