BQ24074: Charger IC burnout

Hello Anthony,

A few questions,

1. Does IC look damaged when inspected visually? What are the symptoms of burnout besides no output?
2. Do you know what triggered the burnout? Like connecting battery or load?
3. Waveforms showing voltage / current on IN and BAT pins would be good. If you can capture the waveforms at exact time of failure that is ideal.

1. totally burned as shown in the picture above.

2. battery is connected & in charging

3. do you mean the waveform in normal operation?  I cannot capture the waveform at failure time.
