PWM generating analog IC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC2897A, UCC2894

Hi,

I communicated from chat and he recommended this process. So I create thread.

1. I am looking for some analog chip.

2. It can make complement pwm signals by a only one original pwm signal.

3. and it can insert dead-time within the complement pwm signals that I preset time.

4. I don't want kinds of MCU, I just need a one channel.

If you have solutions. I wonder that.

I am waiting for your reply.

thank you.

  • Hi,

UCC2897A can meet the requirement of #1, 3, and 4. I am not understanding #2, as when you talk complement, you need two signals from two pins. In UCC2897A, the two pins are OUT and AUX which they are complement, and the deadtime between them can be adjusted.

You can take a look at UCC2897A to see if ok.

  • Hi,

UCC2894 is actually complement between OUT and AUX. UCC2897A AUX needs a invert function to be opposite between OUT and AUX.

  • Thanks for your answer.

I checked the UCC2897A as your recommending. But it is different IC what I think.

I should explain more detail about #2, because it is key function of the IC.

The MCU that I designed can make PWM signals, and the PWM signals should be connected an other board through the cable not PCB.

In this case, I want to minimize the number of cables. So I imagine that it can reduce the number of cables in half, if the IC is able to generate complement PWM signals by a only one original PWM .

at first, thank you again, and if you know about IC having these function, please let me know.

  • Hi,

UCC2897a or UCC2894 either can generate complement PWM signals. You may need to provide a circuit drawing to explain how one PWM can be taken as complement - which is to which as complement. You said PWM signals as plural while one PWM is single. You need clarify such ambiguous and it is more effective to draw your thought in circuit for other people to understand.

  • Hi,

It sounds like you need something like I2C with one short pulse, one long pulse, with a dead time in between while the total time is fixed if fsw needs to fix, so together you have one wire to send the complement PWM signals. After the other board receives the signals, that board will convert the series signal into two signals of PWM with a dead time in between. If this is you are looking for, I suggest you to use MCU to produce as no analog circuitry exists to achieve such functions to my best knowledge at now.

  • thank you for your reply. your answer is clear to me.

    I consider this more.

    thank you
