LM3409HV: the input current of LM3409HV in special application

Part Number: LM3409HV

Hi Team,

my customer is under design a new

This device is using TI LM3409HV for LED driver implementing flash activity in a fire condition. The LED driver part had been fixed before, and there is a new feature for detailed operation on LM3409HV in a new idea internally, where:

input of control signals are set to:

  • UVLO=0V
  • IADJ=1V
  • EN=3V

And Vin=60V.

In the idea,

LED_Curr_ADJ, LED_EN pins are set to on constantly,  LED_UVLO is enabled only when LED flash is happening.

The question is how much the current draw will be taken from input (through R65) in this set when the LED doesn’t flash.

  • Hello Shuang,

2 mA typical (from the datasheet page 6).  It may be a little higher due to 60V input but it's an internal linear running the internal circuitry.  If EN is low it will drop to 110 uA however there will be a turn-on delay as VCC charges.

    Best Regards,
