TPS560430: output ripple for 15V => 1V design

Genius 17165 points
Part Number: TPS560430
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMR50410,

Hi all

My customer has these specs: 15V => 1V / 300mA and they have preselected the TPS560430 (2.1MHz version) because the 1.1MHz or the 700kHz LMR50410 would fall into the signal frequency range of their product.

They find this works ok but with a ripple of 40mVpp. This ripple will disappear with a load > 170mA (scope shots below).

One would think that they would violate the ton(min) with the above operating conditions.

Can you comment if this is the case ? Or could one assume the device would go into PFM and would operate ok ?

They are using a 4.7uH coil from Bourns (SRR3011-4R7YLCT-ND) which they found to be very good for shielding the EMI and a 22uf ceramic capacitor.

Basically the EVM schematic.

Best regards
