Hi Team,

I'm using TPS62112RSA in one of my applications. we are working on the FMECA for the same. Can you please let me know the effects of the below failure cases?

Pin 1

open	Pin 12
open	Pin 2

open

Pin 14

All the above-mentioned pins have replicate pins. I hope the functionality will be carried out by the other pin. Please comment.

Yes, the duplicate pin should carry out the functionality by the other pin. Just curious on the need for this information and if there is any application specific issue you are trying to address with this information.

Can you please let me know the effects of the below failure cases? I just need the manufacturer's response as a piece of additional evidence.

FB pin - short to Vin, short to GND, and open.

Hi Swathi,

What is the VIN value in this case? I will need to check these on an EVM with the TPS62112. This might take longer if I cannot find readily available TPS62112 samples.

Here Vin is 15V or 7.2V.

Hi Swathi,

I need to order the TPS62112 samples and expecting them to arrive middle of next week after which I can test. With VIN values you specified, and FB short to VIN, expectation is damage due to overvoltage on FB pin. I have an expected result for these conditions but will need to check FB open and FB short to GND on the board with TPS62112.

Hi Swathi,

Since the TPS62112 is a fixed voltage device with FB resistors integrated, the FB pin is essentially connected to the top of the top FB resistor. So, I tested with TPS62110 with top FB resistor either floating (FB open in TPS62112) or grounded (FB to GND in TPS62112). In both cases, there is no switching activity and no damage to the IC. Output is not regulated and is limited to the input voltage.
