LMZ14201H: Variable 5-24V Output powers supply module capable of delivering 5-1000mA

I need to develop a variable output power supply module capable of supplying a 5-24 volt output voltage at 5-1000mA. In experimenting with the LMZ14201H module in the WEBENCH tool, I struggled to find a set of resistor values that would work across the full range of current and voltages I need. Is this goal achievable with this part? If not, can you suggest a more appropriate part.

Hello,

What is your desired input voltage range? Do you have a particular switching frequency frequency requirement?

Hello Harrison,

The target input voltage is 12 to 28V. The target switching frequency is somewhat open, but a good target would be 150-200Khz.

Hello Steven,

LMZ14201H is not a good choice for this design. The desired output voltage range and load current make it difficult to achieve for your particular set of input voltage conditions.

I'll have to check with our team internally to see if there is a better option.

Hi Harrison,

Not sure I made this clear, but this application would always require the user to supply a higher input voltage than the desired output voltage--buck style.

Thanks for the clarification.

LMZ14203H will likely be your best bet in this application but you will need to simulate this using Webench and PSPICE for TI to confirm total functionality.

The attached app note shows a method of varying the output voltage using a voltage or current DAC.
