BQ24104: Disable Thermistor Sensing

Part Number: BQ24104

Hello all,

I intend to use the BQ24104 to charge a lithium ion battery pack- but the battery pack I am sourcing does not have a thermistor output. The internal battery management circuit inside of the pack does have temperature safety shutoffs, so safety-wise I'm not too concerned, but for this charging application I cannot use the TS pin to monitor temperatures.

What resistor values should I put onto the TS pin to have it not interrupt charging at all?

I am charging an 8.4V battery at 2A with a 12V source.

Thank you!

  • Hello,

Please place the TS pin between VLTF and VHTF do disable it. In other words, make the TS pin between 73.5% and 34.4% of Vo(VTSB). Vo(VTSB) is nominally 3.15 V, so this means place the TS pin between 2.32 V and 1.08 V. Placing two 10 k Ohm resistors with the divider at the TS pin would do the trick! This puts the percentage at 50 %.

    Thanks,

    Mike Emanuel
