BQ40Z50: Differences between bq40z50 and bq40z555

I have a custom BMS design based on the bq40z50 that I recently got back from the assembly house. The design is refusing to/communicate with the EV2400 when I apply a WAKE signal.

The chip in the position where the bq40z50 should be is marked bq40z555. The device on the EVM I have is marked bq40z50. I looked up the bq40z555 part number and I got a few results related to a battery for an Acer product.

Can I use the bq40z555 device in the same way as I can use a bq40z50 or should I have the assembly house replace the bq40z555's with bq40z50's?

Hi Jeff,

You should have the assembly house replace the bq40z555's with the bq40z50. The bq40z555 is a custom Acer gauge. The devices are similar from a hardware standpoint but different in firmware. Since the bq40z555 is not for sale to the general public, we are legally not allowed to share any documentation on the device.
